Palomar developed and patented Fractional Photothermolysis to create a revolutionary treatment: soft tissue coagulation and non-ablative skin resurfacing* with high efficacy and no downtime.
The Palomar Lux1540 Fractional™ Laser Handpiece delivers light in an array of high precision microbeams. These microbeams create narrow, deep columns of tissue coagulation that penetrate well below the epidermis and into the dermis, while sparing the tissue surrounding the columns from damage.

The coagulated tissue within the columns initiates a natural healing process that accelerates the formation of new, healthy tissue. Coagulated cellular debris is expelled as the skin is resurfaced.

Throughout the process, the integrity of the stratum corneum is maintained, which protects the tissue from infection as it heals. The result: faster dermal remodeling and skin resurfacing. At left: Cross-section of treated skin.
High Efficacy, No Downtime
The Palomar Lux1540 offers greater energy per microbeam, and greater depth of penetration (up to 1 mm) than any competing device. This stimulates quick healing within the surrounding deep tissue for the most effective deep corrections and long-term dermal remodeling obtainable.
In addition, the Lux1540 delivers uniform microbeam penetration, a consistency that can't be matched by systems that use a scanning approach.
Treatment Options
The Palomar Lux1540 features easy-change heads for different treatment approaches. The 10 mm spot size head delivers fluences up to 100 mJ per microbeam (mb) and creates a 100 mB/cm2 array of columns for deep coagulation.
The 15 mm spot size head delivers fluences up to 15 mJ/mb and creates a 320 mB/cm2 array of narrower columns for relatively shallow coagulation.
